January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month
The January issue of the Stop Trafficking Newsletter, co-sponsored by the Felician Sisters of North America, is available by clicking here. This month’s issue addresses forced labor and trafficking in the United States and offers 17 practical actions you can take to oppose human trafficking.
What can you do to oppose human trafficking?
Keep eyes and ears open in places where trafficking may be happening, such as restaurants, hair and nail salons, hotels and airports, school and sports events, sales crews, etc.. Are there strange goings and comings at the house near you? Is that teenager acting afraid of someone, keeping strange appointments or coming home with a new unexplainable tattoo? Talk to those who are serving you in restaurants. If there is reason for suspicion, call the trafficking hotline. It is better to be wrong about the situation than to miss an opportunity to save a trafficking victim.
