According to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, there are at least 59.5 million refugees in the world today, including 38.2 displaced within their own countries. That means that one in every 122 human beings is a refugee, and many of them are children. (UNHCR.org)
This weekend U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said the United States will resettle at least 85,000 refugees in fiscal 2016, which begins October 1, including a minimum of 10,000 Syrians. Kerry stated that the number of refuges resettled in 2017 will be 100,000, with the possibility of doing even more.
